FineGrid bags are made by using two hand-woven towels by the local artisans of Buldan - a historic little town on the Aegean side of Turkey - on semi-automatic looms.
Semi-automatic looms have been used in Buldan for almost a hundred years as an alternative to the centuries-old traditional shuttle looms in order to meet growing demand.

These specific looms require supervision from the artisans, however, the switch to using semi-automatic machines affords them the opportunity to weave more towels within the same amount of time, thus earning more money to support their families. This was a dream come true for the locals of this little town, where every family still earns their livelihood through weaving. Though the introduction of the fully automatic looms and industrial manufacturing might likely change the long-held traditions of the artisans of Buldan forever, fortunately, there are still a handful of families using the semi-automatic looms with the hopes of keeping their tradition alive.
