FineGrid scarves are hand-woven by the local artisans of Buldan - a historic little town on the Aegean side of Turkey - on semi-automatic looms. 

Semi-automatic looms have been used in Buldan for almost a hundred years as an alternative to the centuries-old traditional shuttle looms in order to meet growing demand. 

These specific looms still have to be supervised by the artisans, however being semi-automatic affords them the opportunity to weave more textile within the same amount of time, thus earning more money to support their families. This was a dream come true for the locals of this little town-where every family still earns their livelihood through weaving. Unfortunately, the introduction of the fully automatic looms and industrial manufacturing would change the long-held traditions of the artisans of Buldan forever. Fortunately, there are still a handful of families using the semi-automatic looms with the hopes of keeping their tradition alive.
